ABOUT JOSHUA JOSHUA

JOSHUA JOSHUA is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice traverses the edges of emerging technology, embodied interactivity, and poetic intervention. Working across installation, video, custom software, wearable devices, and ethical AI systems, Joshua crafts responsive environments and speculative tools that reimagine perception, accessibility, and the human-machine interface.

Their work is grounded in a queer, neurodivergent sensibility, both intimate and system-aware—seeking to make visible the hidden architectures of power, data, and voice in contemporary life. Through gentle disruptions and thoughtful design, Joshua challenges normative narratives and constructs spaces where vulnerability, play, and critical inquiry coexist.

Recent projects span interactive installations, voice-driven media systems, and adaptive artworks that bridge real-time audio-visual processing with lived experience. Whether developing custom software for immersive storytelling or rethinking the accessibility of visual culture through AI, Joshua’s practice is driven by a desire to create inclusive, affective works that are both beautiful and socially engaged.

In 2024, Joshua was a Bundanon Artist in Residence, working as part of SOFA, an ongoing collaboration with artist Leith Maguire. Their work has recently been featured in exhibitions including The Q Files at Unassigned Gallery, Brunswick, and Insatiable: Notes on Queer Appetite at the Meat Market, North Melbourne (August 2025). Joshua will also speak at SXSW Sydney 2025, contributing to critical dialogue around art, technology, and queer futurity.

Alongside their visual and conceptual work, Joshua maintains a parallel practice as an art pop musician under the same name, releasing music that often intersects with their broader artistic inquiries.
